When you buy this, it’s said to be a powder gouache, but upon receiving I noticed it’s just like my liquid himi gouache set. it has some odd yellowy-liquid at the top, but once i mix the colors up it disappears. i’m sure it’s just some preservers. The himi gouache set is very fun, and a great art set, however this set is NOT powder still. Which is why I give 4 stars!
A few things, I should have known better. All these extra colors and in the end most are so damn similar it’s not needed. I ended up only opening a handful for now. Truly it’s best to just get the smaller sets. No one needs this much color and the palette is huge which makes me not what to get it out. Now I’m disappointed that in less than a month I had to toss out one color already. This yellow shade molded. My other tubs seem to be fine but I’ve never had my Himi gouache mold before so this set already is worse off than my past sets. Proceed with caution. This is more paint than most anyone could ever use and more colors than you need. Buy the smaller set!
The pictures of this paint set indicate that you open it up and the colours are laid out to you. Not so. When you open it up, all the paints are individually sealed with foil tops which are more than a little fiddly to remove. Whilst the close fitting plastic ‘snap-on’ top indicates that it will keep the individual paints moist, only time will tell if that is the case. I would have much preferred each paint to have its own individual clear plastic lid so that you can 1) see the colour easily (the paint card supplied isn’t really a good enough match) and 2) store the set easily without having to keep it flat. If you undo some pots and don’t store it flat, the paint will go everywhere! So, I’ve no issues as to the quality or range of colours given, just with the ‘presentation’…
