This is a stunningly beautiful watch. It is simple and elegant. The case is very nicely finished. The hand and markers are easy to read. The bracelet is nicely brushed and polished and very comfortable. The lume lasts all night. It is accurate to one second per day, which is as good as a Rolex. I know these are now sold out, but I hope Steeldive brings them back.
Posted a photo of the lume for SD1934T. Very clear with the Explorer 3 - 6 - 9 dial. Wears very comfortably. Very legible. Don't miss the date complication from SD1953 that can obscure reading the minute hand at the 3 position through the date cyclops. Only minor point noticed is crown is smaller on SD1934T compared to SD1953 but both are true to Explorer & Submariner. Think anyone with larger 8.5" wrists would find SD1934T would wear like a women's watch compared to SD1953 but think the SD1934T would suit anyone with smaller 6.5" wrists to medium 7.5" wrists better. Only other thing I noticed is SD1934T has all of the case polished compared.to polished sides and brushed top on the Explorer. The SD1953 has polished case sides and brushed case top as per Submariner. Both the SD1934T and SD1953 have polished sides 3-link bracelets with brushed tops as per Explorer and Submariner oyster bracelets. Steeldive milled clasps have 6 micro adjustments for a good fit but need a tool to adjust unlike the Explorer and Submariner glide lock clasps to adjust without tools, but will fit most people fine with links removed as needed. I had 2 links removed with mid point clasp setting on SD1953 and 3 links removed with end point clasp setting on SD1934T to fit my 7.5" wrists. Think the Steeldive 3-link bracelets are sized for larger 8.5" wrists as supplied and would only need milled clasp micro adjustments without removing links for larger 8.5" wrists, but don't think many with larger 8.5" wrists would buy the smaller 39mm SD1934T Explorer homage over the 40mm SD1953 Submariner homage. For those with smaller 6.5" wrists watch Ash of The Chap's Guide on YouTube compare Explorer to Submariner with the Submariner only just fitting him and the Explorer fitting him more comfortably and looking better. Don't know why so many wear such large dials now unless wearing a chronograph.
Added comparison SD1953 40mm Submariner Date homage on wrist and side by side with SD1934T 39mm Explorer homage. Not much difference side by side between them but SD1934T wears smaller on my 7.5" wrists. Would be fine on smaller 6.5" wrists. May look like a women's watch on an 8.5" wrist. Explorers were originally 36mm before went to 39mm in 2010 and 40mm in 2020 when Explorer 36mm was reinstated along with Explorer 40mm either for smaller wrists on guys or larger wrists on girls who wanted a larger than 31mm Oyster Perpetual. Would be a good women's watch as well as a guy's watch. Rolex homages wear exceptionally well up to 40mm for me. Think I'll sell my SD1979 42mm now with 40mm SD1953 and 39mm SD1934T. Find apart from the weight I forget about them until I need to check the time. On weights, the SD1953 on 3-link bracelet with 2 links removed is 175g and SD1934T with 3 links removed is 155g on 20mm oyster bracelets and SD1979 on tropic rubber strap is 110g to see the difference the bracelet makes to the weight. With 5-link engineer 22mm bracelet on SD1979 its heavier than SD1953 on 20mm bracelet.
Wanted an SD1934T Explorer homage as an alternative to SD1953 Submariner Date homage. SD1953 at 40mm on 20mm 3-link oyster bracelet felt smaller than SD1979 Squale Atmos 50 homage 42mm on 22mm 5-link engineer bracelet. SD1934T Explorer 39mm homage on 20mm 3-link oyster feels smaller than SD1953 40mm. Had 3 links removed for my 7.5" wrist with micro adjustment clasp on last pinhole. Had 2 links removed on SD1953 with micro adjustment clasp on middle pinhole. Think it fits well on smaller wrists. Wears well and hardly feels noticeable compared to SD1953 that is heavier than SD1979. Would work fine on 6.5" wrists. May feel too small on larger 8.5" wrists. Like.the clarity of dial. Don't miss cyclops and date of SD1953. Find date of SD1979 too small to read at a glance. Think SD1934T is a better dress watch under dress shirt cuffs than SD1953 or SD1979. Will post another update after a day wearing it compared to SD1953. Smaller crown than SD1953 but less fiddly than recessed smaller SD1979 crown. Each is true to their respective homage design. Expect SD1934T will be a comfortable and understated watch that I forget I'm wearing.. Probably less noticeable than SD1953 that many will recognise faster as Submariner is better known than Explorer. To the average non-watch enthusiast it would like a nice Seiko or a nice Tissot if they weren't aware of the Explorer first.
