We had one like this year's ago. Was great for wide mouth jars like mayonnaise or pickles where you can't get a grip.

It opens jars, however it is a bit tricky to use and could be a bit heavier.
It definitely works to open jars more easily. The ratchet function on the handle is confusing. I have bought two because they do work.
