The Vyper is an excellent machine for the price. Set-up takes only a few minutes and is very intuitive. The amount of features included are very comprehensive (hardware and software). Very quiet and reliable operation. I have been using a pair of Vypers at work for rapid prototyping, and have them being controlled by Raspberry Pi running Octoprint. This allows for anyone in the organization to access the printers remotely, start/stop prints, and monitor progress. This pair of machines have made dozens of excellent functional parts and are almost always running. As an experienced printer myself, the Vyper was an easy choice as it checks all the boxes for my use case. Size, speed, cost, features, quality, all allowed for these printers to pay for themselves in no time at all. This is my default recommendation to anyone who asks about getting into 3d printing, hands down.
Am a beginner into 3d printing about 3 weeks. I did a lot of research and watched countless utube videos. I picked this anycubic viper 3d printer. Putting it together was straight forward and pretty easy. Most of the work is done by the manufacture. And have great success right out of the box. But now am having issues with the hot bed. The temp is at 60 degrees Celsius, the nozzle reaches 220 Celsius no problem there. However, the Magnetic spring steel build plate will not hold the base of the model and you have a mess of stranded plastic on the bed (see Pic). Even after wiping it down with alcohol to get the hand oils off after scraping the plastic that is left behind with the included scraper. Now i have to use glue stick to ensure the base of the model sticks. The build plate my option has failed in 3 weeks!
First off: be prepared to do your homework, 3d printing is an involved hobby and don’t expect to get great quality prints out of the box. I messed with my cura settings a lot using PLA but have yet to use PETG. Online has a lot of resources for printing so if you’re willing to learn you’ll be fine. I got this as my first printer and I’m able to make some pretty decent prints so far. I’m hoping to improve the speed andquality as I learn to tweak settings more. As for this printer the pros and cons are as follows, I got the printer in November 2021 for frame of reference: Pros: -Auto bed leveling, the best thing about the machine, makes it easier to learn -Big build space -Good cooling fan -Great magnetic bed really makes it outclass the ender 3 -Good quality prints with the right settings -it seems very sturdy and I haven’t had any problems with the mechanical aspect of the machine or the touchscreen so far -comes with tools as well as usb adapter, sd card, and usb cable Cons -it’s not very quiet -it takes awhile to get the settings right and get a good print, which can be frustrating for beginners -it’s a little slow -it’s not enclosed -it’s fdm, less detailed but much safer than resin Overall I really enjoy this printer and I’m hoping I can use better settings to make it faster. It’s a great and forgiving machine to learn on and I think it’s extra features are worth spending a little more on. I would definitely recommend getting other filament to try rather than the box filament, I got an extra roll of filament as well because I bought it near black friday and it wasn’t good quality and caused a lot of frustration right off the bat. I also recommend tweaking your retraction settings if you’re having issues with stringing.
I must be honest and say that this machine is perfect for beginners entering the world of FDM printing. It is suited for newcomers and easy to assemble and start printing. Manual is easy to understand ,support is great for any issues you may encounter. The auto-level feature is great and navigating the touch screen interface isn't overwhelming or complicated. I love this machine and glad that I chose it to start off with. I am very satisfied with the support team and their help with questions I had.
Just got mine today. First impressions: OMG I got this to replace my old dying DIY Prusa i3 kit I built around 5 years ago and modded the heck out of it to fix a lot of issues it had, and the fact that from unboxing to printing took me 30 mins and with such ease and print quality and speed it's amazing. Auto leveling was pretty fast and works so good. I saw some review videos that said it was slow, but it was pretty quick in my opinion. The motors are super quiet, can barely hear them, you can only hear the fan. The frame is very solid, built with really good quality. Instructions for assembly were pretty quick and simple, not too many screws to tight, I think 7 total. Packaging was really good, lots of padding so I had 0 issues. Didn't even have to tighten any part, the bed nuts were tight and bed was super sturdy and the belts were also tight. I love the touch screen and the drawer with the provided tools. The one thing I didn't find in the instructions was how to change the filament, but that's cause it's soooo easy, just press Filament Remove and it will heat up the end and retract the filament and you just put a new one. Print speed is also faster than my old one, also it's faster ramping up the extruder and bed temperatures. Bottom line, all these extra features it has that my old one made me spend a lot of wasted time and filament are worth every penny. And the fact that the price is so good, I got mine during the Cyber Monday sale for $309 and that's pretty much what I paid for my old one 5 years ago and it's not even half as good as this guy.
So far so good. Alot easier printer to use then my Ender 5 Pro. Super quick setup and your printing. Just make sure you read the auto leveling instructions and the video Anycubic has on their site. Also the version of Cura that is on the supplied SD card does not have the Vyper in the settings selection drop down. Go on Cura and download the newest version and it's on there. Will update this review if any problems arise.
Coming from a Monoprice Maker Select Plus, almost everything about this machine is an upgrade. PROS + The overall build quality and materials are substantially higher quality than the Monoprice. It looks and feels so much nicer + The motors are nearly silent, you can basically only hear the fans, which are reasonable. The Monoprice makes all kinds of horrible sounds while running... + The touch screen is at a much better angle for normal use + Auto bed leveling, I've leveled once, and all prints adhere flawlessly after that first time so far. + The print surface is absolutely amazing (but you have to like that textured finish it provides for the surface touching the plate). I have not had a print fail due to adhesion of the first layer yet, and I'm strictly printing with the 'skirt' helper. + Loading/unloading filament is super easy + Larger print area + Even though the Vyper bed is larger, the actual feet take up less space on my desk depth-wise, and thus fits more securely. The y-axis tensioner hangs out over my work area a bit, but it doesn't bother me. CONS - The spool holder sticks out VERY far to the side. It makes the overall work area VERY wide. Obviously I can print a new holder at some point if I so desire for the top, but out of the box, the monoprice was better in this regard (spool holder on the top).
Expedition rapide.
This machine comes with every feature that id want on a printer like this. When I opened up the box I made sure all the basic frame bolts were tight on a nice flat surface, and then put it all together. Settings are everything because when a few parts came out with defects, support helped me flash updated firmware and a friend gave me a cura profile. Now it runs 24/7 on a neverending work cycle. I print functional parts for my laser business. Overall this printer is amazing. Im also not a big fan of touchscreens on printers but this works great with no lag. Theres plenty of community support out there if your having any problems, for me, this was another printer to add to my Arsenal, for a beginner, its a great machine cause it doesnt need a bunch of upgrades just to get a basic decent print out of it. Highly Reccommended!!!
